Featured picture candidates Featured picture candidates are images that the community will vote on, to determine whether or not they will be highlighted as some of the finest on Commons. This page lists the candidates to become featured pictures. The picture of the day images are selected from featured pictures. Old candidates for featured pictures are listed in the log pages and in the candidate archives. There are also chronological lists of featured pictures: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 and current month. Formal thingsNominatingGuidelines for nominatorsPlease read the complete guidelines before nominating. This is a summary of what to look for when submitting and reviewing FP candidates:
Artworks, illustrations, and historical documentsThere are many different types of non-photographic media, including engravings, watercolors, paintings, etchings, and various others. Hence, it is difficult to set hard-and-fast guidelines. However, generally speaking, works can be divided into three types: Those that can be scanned, those that must be photographed, and those specifically created to illustrate a subject. Works that must be photographed include most paintings, sculptures, works too delicate or too unique to allow them to be put on a scanner, and so on. For these, the requirements for photography, below, may be mostly followed; however, it should be noted that photographs which cut off part of the original painting are generally not considered featurable. Works that may be scanned include most works created by processes that allow for mass distribution − for instance, illustrations published with novels. For these, it is generally accepted that a certain amount of extra manipulation is permissible to remove flaws inherent to one copy of the work, since the particular copy – of which hundreds, or even thousands of copies also exist – is not so important as the work itself. Works created to serve a purpose include diagrams, scientific illustrations, and demonstrations of contemporary artistic styles. For these, the main requirement is that they serve their purpose well. Provided the reproduction is of high quality, an artwork generally only needs one of the following four things to be featurable:
Digital restorations must also be well documented. An unedited version of the image should be uploaded locally, when possible, and cross-linked from the file description page. Edit notes should be specified in detail, such as "Rotated and cropped. Dirt, scratches, and stains removed. Histogram adjusted and colors balanced." PhotographsOn the technical side, we have focus, exposure, composition, movement control and depth of field.
On the graphic elements we have shape, volume, color, texture, perspective, balance, proportion, noise, etc.
You will maximise the chances of your nominations succeeding if you read the complete guidelines before nominating. Video and audioPlease nominate videos, sounds, music, PDFs, etc. at Commons:Featured media candidates. Set nominationsIf a group of images are thematically connected in a direct and obvious way, they can be nominated together as a set. A set should fall under one of the following types:
Adding a new nominationIf you believe that you have found or created an image that could be considered valuable, with appropriate name, quality, image description, categories and licensing, then do the following. Step 1: copy the image name into this box, after the text already present in the box, for example, Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Your image filename.jpg. Then click on the "create new nomination" button. All single files: For renominations, simply add /2 after the filename. For example, Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Foo.jpg/2
All set nomination pages should begin "Commons:Featured picture candidates/Set/", e.g. "Commons:Featured picture candidates/Set/My Nomination".
Step 3: manually insert a link to the created page at the top of Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list: Click here, and add the following line to the TOP of the nominations list:
Nominations are time-sensitive and for one-time use only. An automatic clock starts as soon as they are created. Do not create them in advance, save them for later or re-activate them. Galleries and FP categories: Please add a gallery page and section heading from the list at Commons FP galleries. Write the code as Page name#Section heading. For example: Optional: if you are not the creator of the image, please notify them using
An 'Alternative' is created by adding a sub-section to the nomination page: ====Alternative==== VotingEditors whose accounts have at least 10 days and 100 constructive, stable edits on Commons (excluding user and talk pages) can vote. Everybody can vote for their own nominations. Anonymous (IP) votes are not allowed. You may use the following templates:
You may indicate that the image has no chance of success with the template reason - ~~~~, where reason explains why the image is clearly unacceptable as a FP. The template can only be used when there are no support votes other than the one from the nominator. A well-written review helps participants (photographers, nominators and reviewers) improve their skills by providing insight into the strengths and weaknesses of a picture. Explain your reasoning, especially when opposing a candidate (which has been carefully selected by the author/nominator). English is the most widely understood language on Commons, but any language may be used in your review. A helpful review will often reference one or more of the criteria listed above. Unhelpful reasons for opposing include:
Remember also to put your signature (~~~~). Featured picture delisting candidatesOver time, featured picture standards change. It may be decided that for some pictures which were formerly "good enough", this is no longer the case. This is for listing an image which you believe no longer deserves to be a featured picture. For these, vote:
This can also be used for cases in which a previous version of an image was promoted to FP, but a newer version of the image has been made and is believed to be superior to the old version, e.g. a newly edited version of a photo or a new scan of a historical image. In particular, it is not intended for replacing older photos of a particular subject with newer photos of the same subject, or in any other case where the current FP and the proposed replacement are essentially different images. For these nominations, vote:
If you believe that some picture no longer meets the criteria for FP, you can nominate it for delisting, copying the image name into this box, after the text already present in the box: In the new delisting nomination page just created you should include:
After that, you have to manually insert a link to the created page at the top of Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list. As a courtesy, leave an informative note on the talk page(s) of the original creator, uploader(s), and nominator with a link to the delisting candidate. can be used for this purpose. Featured picture candidate policyGeneral rules
Featuring and delisting rulesA candidate will become a featured picture in compliance with following conditions:
The delisting rules are the same as those for FPs, with voting taking place over the same time period. The rule of the 5th day is applied to delisting candidates that have received no votes to delist, other than that of the proposer, by day 5. The FPCBot handles the vote counting and closing in most cases, current exceptions are candidates containing multiple versions (“alternatives”) of the image as well as delist-and-replace nominations. Any experienced user may close the requests not handled by the bot. For instructions on how to close nominations, see Commons:Featured picture candidates/What to do after voting is finished. Also note that there is a manual review stage between when the bot has counted the votes and before the nomination is finally closed by the bot; this manual review can be done by any user familiar with the voting rules. Hint: Until summer 2025, the bot was also not able to process FPXed, FPDed and withdrawn nominations as well as delist nominations; this has been fixed, users do not need to close such nominations anymore. Above all, be politePlease don't forget that the image you are judging is somebody's work. Avoid using phrases like "it looks terrible" and "I hate it". If you must oppose, please do so with consideration. Also remember that your command of English might not be the same as someone else's. Choose your words with care. Happy judging… and remember… all rules can be broken. See also

- Gallery: Commons:Featured_pictures/Non-photographic_media/Printed#Other seems best suited for a postcard.
Info St. Paul's Cathedral, completed in 1846, is the seat of the Diocese of Huron and the oldest church in London, Ontario, Canada. The church is still extant, but the view shown here is blocked entirely by trees these days. While browsing historical postcards during a recent trip, I saw this item and thought the mood of the winter night, the turn-of-the-century artstyle, and the detailed depiction of the church and its supporting buildings was excellent. (Even better, the post-mark on the reverse gives a very explicit publication date for copyright status).

Support A truly striking image with amazing colors and a strong visual impact. Imho, it is a great find and worth a careful technical refinement. I have prepared a slightly improved version as a suggestion. I adjusted the image at 100% view to reduce visible noise, refine sharpness, and minimize the slight blur on the left side. If you think this version could be useful for the nomination, you are very welcome to download it here via SwissTransfer and upload it as a new version. Comment I was about to mention MontBlanc2c.jpg (It was taken by my friend and I was next to him, taking some much less impressive photos. Brings back memories!). This has a more fortunate lighting and clouds add some mystic. But it lacks room around the subject IMO. On closer inspection, I also notice Adobe still hasn't figured out processing Fuji's x-trans' RAW. You should give Iridient (or something else) a chance :) - Benh (talk) 18:35, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
Comment Per Benh. This is on the right track for becoming a FP, but needs more space to breathe! Also seems a but dull to me in regards of highlights/shadows. --Aciarium ⚒ (talk) 21:08, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- Benh and Aciarium: on this specific file I have a little wiggle room of a few 100 pixels at the top, but I'm not sure it would really add to the picture. I also have the same photo taken with my 18mm but then it's not as detailed because it is not a panorama. In a way I feel the cloud left to the top makes it look tighter than it really is. I could upload a new version if you want. Espandero (talk) 12:35, 7 August 2026 (UTC)

Question This is an impressive picture, comparable to the ones made by our best macro photographers. But this result cannot be obtained with a single shot. If focus stacking was used, that should be mentioned in the image file. -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 19:18, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- Some regular FPC contributors do not always provide detailed documentation for their images, and questions about the techniques used may therefore remain unanswered. Since the photographer was not the person who nominated the image, they may not see this discussion, but one possible explanation is that several photographs were combined using an image-stacking technique. Whatever the method, the final result is impressive and would certainly be interesting to learn more about Wilfredor (talk) 20:00, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- First of all,
Strong support. Very good composition, pleasant colors, and – to state the obvious – incredible resolution. In this particular case, I don't think the missing retouched-picture tag is that big of an issue, since there are is no apparent reason not to assume good faith. Alvesgaspar and Wilfredor made me realize that maybe it would be a good idea to reconsider if and how such "etiquette" rules should be enforced in the future. --Aciarium ⚒ (talk) 21:40, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- Ever in QIC and also in FPC, contributors are generally encouraged to provide at least a proper English description, together with useful information such as geolocation, a panorama designation when applicable, complete EXIF data, the often-overlooked P180 statement, and appropriate categorization, italicized name on specimens, etc... Although many of these expectations are not formally written rules, they have gradually become established community practices over time. They help reviewers understand how an image was produced and properly document it, but they can also be confusing and burdensome for newcomers who may not yet be familiar with these unwritten conventions. More recently, however, a formal requirement was approved, the description must clearly state whether artificial intelligence was used, either partially or entirely, in creating the image. Oppose Nice Shopping picture, but sorry. Trees on the left and at the top are in the way, the building on the right is cut off, people are distracting, the crop on the left side of the image is unfortunate, and the stop sign carries too much visual weight. --Wilfredor (talk) 23:27, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Wilfredor: You are right, there are a few issues with this image. Framing/perspective wasn't too easy on location because no matter the perspective, there was always something obstructing in the frame (so I had to choose the lesser evil between traffic sign in the center of the frame, and obstructing neighbor building at the border). However, I tried to at least improve the cropping issue a bit, still very much wishing that the house on the right wouldn't be there. By the way, the people in the foreground are an essential stylistic device to convey the characteristic "underpopulated city center of a small Austrian town on a sunday" feeling ;) --Aciarium ⚒ (talk) 00:16, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- You’ve done a good job, and the crop is better than before. Even so, I think that, despite correcting those details, there are still other issues. Of course, this is only my opinion, not an absolute truth. I’ve noticed that very few people on FPC leave comments or negative votes, especially photographers who are far more experienced than I am. In the past, there was more constructive criticism that helped people improve, but I suspect some stopped doing it after receiving retaliatory negative votes. I wanted to leave this comment not because I believe this photo could become a featured picture with a few adjustments, but because I think it may help you achieve a better result in your next shot. Sorry Wilfredor (talk) 11:50, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Wilfredor: Thank you! :) I absoutely didn't take your constructive criticism as an offense. In my reply, I wanted to provide some more insight into the situation on location, but in hindsight I understand that my choice of words may seem overly defensive – sorry about that! --Aciarium ⚒ (talk) 21:36, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- No, your wording was perfectly fine. I’m just careful with my own words because I know some people are more sensitive than others, and messages—especially criticism—can easily be misinterpreted depending on the tone people read into them. Thank you again for taking it so positively. You’ve officially been added to my list of pleasant users—although, to be honest, that list doesn’t actually exist. It’s just my way of saying that I appreciate your attitude. Wilfredor (talk) 21:48, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, I appreciate it! :) Likewise, of course.
- With every new instance of retaliatory negative votes or comments that are uncalled for, the overall motivation of a user to express constructive criticism is further reduced and the transition of the community toward a positive echo chamber continues. You always need supportive comments for reassurance and constructive criticism for growth. One doesn't work without the other, especially when either of the two is unreflected. This also means that the FP project slowly loses its wonderful ability to help users improve their photography skills. Support votes are lightheartedly cast, almost by default, more and more often despite serious technical issues. Opposal is not expressed by casting an explicit oppose vote and providing concise feedback anymore, but by simply abstaining from voting. Therefore, users like you are of increasing value for this community, because you help others understand what exactly it is that they can improve. Looking forward to more valuable feedback on future nominations! --Aciarium ⚒ (talk) 01:32, 6 August 2026 (UTC)

Info Vigan Empanada is a very famous merienda food in the Ilocos Region (the Philippines). It's made of vegetables like papaya or cabbage, and also meat and egg. Created by Jessartcam – uploaded by Jessartcam – nominated by Zquid -- Zquid (talk) 12:43, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

Comment: just a comment now, I'm not ready to vote yet. It looks very nice at first glance. However, there are at least two light sources: one on the top right and one on the top left. And one more to illuminate the crisscrossed pepper pods. The smoke or steam looks artificial. A lit incense stick was likely used to create so strong smoky effect. The initial wow factor is lost due to the obvious fakeness. -- George Chernilevsky talk 18:02, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
Support Doubtless artificially lit, but nonetheless beautiful and attractive to me Cmao20 (talk) 18:09, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

Support The kind of picture you would find in a high-class cookbook (although I sometimes miss those early-2000s "Wikipedia food" photos)! Lighting isn't an issue to me, although the smoke is maybe a bit over the top. But the food itself looks natural and the picture succeeds at giving the viewer a very clear understanding of the dish. --Aciarium ⚒ (talk) 00:33, 5 August 2026 (UTC)

Oppose Food photography is one of my favorite hobbies, both because I enjoy the creative process of taking the photo and because it gives me the opportunity to discover and experience unusual dishes. This image looks very appetizing, especially with its spicy character, which I particularly enjoy....mmmm. That said, and sorry for being a party pooper, the composition feels somewhat tight and confined. The limited space and cropped elements make the image appear slightly cluttered. Allowing more room around the dish and using a higher depth of field could create a more balanced. --Wilfredor (talk) 11:45, 6 August 2026 (UTC)

Info The train was accelerating significantly and I tried correcting it manually with my new software tool: File:Screenshot of dllu's line scan camera speed annotation tool.png. However, some residual distortion around 1% exists. Still, it should be a lot more accurate than existing FP such as File:Line scan photo of nine car BART C1 train in 2017.jpg which do not have this level of granular spline correction. Unfortunately, due to the backlit lighting and the 66 dB dynamic range of the AMS Dragster sensor, the wheels are black even in my 14 bit raw files with no chance of recovery (the same thing also happened to the BART image but I guess its wheels are just more shiny). The photo was captured through a narrow (1 inch) gap in a fence. Here's the capture setup: File:Alkeria Necta camera capturing 1973 Tube stock dllu.jpg. The lens used was a Voigtlander Apo Skopar 90mm f/2.8 with a Kolari Vision IR-cut filter. The IR filter improves color accuracy significantly compared to earlier line scan photos. dllu (talk) 18:46, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

Weak oppose I actually quite like these, but I don't think we need it as six separate FPs when their value is primarily together. I'd support a combined image, with the understanding that Wikipedias or other reusers will probably be relying on the split versions. — Rhododendrites talk | 20:50, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah I think that makes sense. The question is whether I should: 1. concatenate them horizontally 2. stack them vertically with cuts between the train cars 3. stack them vertically equally spaced. The problem with 1 is that firstly, the thumbnails are impossible to see, and secondly, many software cannot display it. For example, the popular imlib [1] caps at 32767 px regardless of image format. JPEG has a limitation of 65535 px. For File:Line scan photo of Shinkansen N700A Series Set G13 in 2017.png I had to use PNG to avoid the 65535 px limitation, although that is also downsampled to 1640 px height rather than the native 4096 px. Next, the problem with the second approach is that each image has different width, particularly the cab cars which may either be physically a different length or I might leave extra "lead space" in front of them. So you'll end up with black bars like so: [2]. I wouldn't mind doing the last approach, like so [3], which is honestly the easiest. Finally, combining them all into one image has the risk of failing to display with popular image viewers, including Google Chrome, which limits to about 536 megapixels in total [4], i.e. 23170 x 23170, which this capture would exceed. I could also downsample the images, but that would be in contravention of COM:I which states "Images should not be downsampled". Let me know which strategy you'd prefer. dllu (talk) 21:13, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- My inclination would be to make one long image, downsampling to the extent necessary to make it technically possible, featuring that version, and then offering a variety of other options for people to use, depending on their application? — Rhododendrites talk | 15:38, 6 August 2026 (UTC)

Oppose I agree with The Cosmonaut Poco a poco (talk) 13:54, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
Comment @Alvesgaspar and Rhododendrites: I can easily produce a combined single image. Let me know if you'd prefer: 1. horizontal 2. vertically stacked by equal width strips 3. vertically stacked by train cars (with black bars at either side for unequal lengths of train cars). Also, I'd just like to point out that the official FPC guidelines say that "crops (puzzle pieces) of a prohibitively large scan" should be nominated as a set. To me, it's just a single image; the fact that it's cut up is just a workaround for a technical limitation. dllu (talk) 20:37, 5 August 2026 (UTC)

The viewing angle is a bit oblique but looks like you did not have much of a choice. Missing wheels are unfortunate :(. Info Anyone who has seen my ouevre knows I don't normally do black-and-white or monochrome. However, I felt that this scene was definitely worth it: it's a narrow alley between two 19th-century blocks, with the trappings of modern urban living. The eye follows the lines of the alley into the shadows... what hides there? Overall, I think it has a very strong ambience that the monochrome presentation supports. Info Going through my backlog of photos. Much better quality than existing line scan FP such as File:Line scan photo of Shinkansen N700A Series Set G13 in 2017, car 01.png. However, the purple line and text are a bit washed out despite my best efforts, because I didn't have the IR-block filter at the time. dllu (talk) 04:51, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

Support I really admire your work; I'm familiar with this technique. Although I prefer it in a single image (personal preference), I suppose that might make it harder to view as a thumbnail. --Wilfredor (talk) 15:06, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- A single horizontal image would be 125,000 px wide which exceeds the limits of many file formats. For example JPEG has a limit of 65535 px. In practice, many image viewers, including popular browsers like Google Chrome, fail to display high resolution images (e.g. this Chrome bug [5] where images more than about 536 megapixels can't be displayed). I could also stack the train or cut at equal widths like so: [6] if anyone prefers that. It's also common on some Wikipedia articles to have a photo per car of the train, e.g. E235 series#Exterior, so having the images cut up by car has a practical purpose. dllu (talk) 16:37, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Maybe using png could be done or you would cut it into pieces that overlap (the typical way of stitching photos for a panorama) so that someone in the future could join them together if they wanted to. Wilfredor (talk) 01:56, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- There's no need for overlap. Combining them into one image is trivially done by concatenating the pieces. They already fit together perfectly. dllu (talk) 02:28, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

Closing nominations manually
The following description explains how to close nominations manually. Normally this is not necessary, as FPCBot takes care of counting the votes, closing and archiving the nominations. When the Bot has counted the votes, a user needs to check and approve the result; everything else is done by the Bot. Therefore, the following instructions are normally only needed for delist-and-replace nominations that the Bot cannot (yet) process, and in case the Bot malfunctions. The closing can be done by any experienced user. If you need help, just ask on the FPC talk page.
Closing a featured picture nomination
- On Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list click on the title/link of the nomination, then [edit].
- Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line):

(You can leave thegalleryparameter blank if the image was not featured. If the nomination contains alternatives, you must add thealternative=xxxparameter with the name of the selected image between thegalleryand thesigparameter. See FPC-results-reviewed for examples and more explanations.) - Edit the title of the nomination and add
featuredornot featuredafter the link – for example:

- Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line):
- If it is featured:
- Add the picture to the list of the four most recently featured pictures of an appropriate gallery of Commons:Featured pictures, list as the first one and delete the last one, so that the number is four again.
- Add the picture to the appropriate featured picture gallery page and section. Click on the most appropriate link beneath where you just added it as one of the four images on Commons:Featured pictures, list to find the gallery page, and search for the correct section. (An image should only appear ONE time in the galleries. After a successful nomination, the image can be placed in several of the Featured pictures categories.)
- Add the template

File:xxxxx.jpg|# Set: Title (Z files)<br>created by xxxxx, uploaded by xxxxx, nominated by xxxxx<br> x, x, x
Replace theZin(Z files)by the count of images in the set, and use the name of the first image from the set instead ofFile:xxxxx.jpgand for the title.

- Add
FP promotion
File:XXXXX.jpgto the talk page of the nominator. For set nominations, use:== Set Promoted to FP ==, using the names of the set files instead of the XXXXXX and the title of the set instead of YYYYY.
<gallery>
File:XXXXXX.jpg
File:XXXXXX.jpg
</gallery>
YYYYY - Add
FP promotion
File:XXXXX.jpgto the talk page of the user who has uploaded the image, if that user is not the same as the nominator. - Add
FP promotion
File:XXXXX.jpgto the talk page of the creator, if the author is a different Commons user than nominator and uploader.
- Add candidate archive categories to the nomination so that people can easily find and evaluate past nominations (this applies also to unsuccessful, FPX-d, FPD-d and Withdraw-n nominations). It’s best practice to wrap all these categories in a
<noinclude>...</noinclude>section because they apply only to the nomination itself, not to the log page etc. which transclude it. You need three or four categories:- A category for the month and year, like Category:August 2026 featured picture candidates for the current month.
- A category for the type and result of the nomination, like Category:2026 successful candidates for featured picture status; replace “successful” by “unsuccessful”, “FPXed”, “FPDed” or “withdrawn”, depending on the final result of the nomination (see the supercategory for common values).
- A category for the subject of the nomination, like Category:2026 featured picture candidates of plants. Replace “plants” by one of the possible subject keywords like “animals”, “architecture”, etc.; see the base category for all common keywords. Basically the subject keywords correspond to the first part of the gallery link.
- If the nomination is a set nomination, add Category:2026 featured picture set nominations.
- As the last step (whether the image is featured or not; including FPX-d, FPD-d and Withdraw-n nominations), you have to move the transclusion (the and the text within those) of the nomination to the current log page.
- To find the current log page, visit the first page of the log for this month. If the header of that page contains a link with the text “Next part of this month”, the log for this month has been split into several parts because it contains too many entries. Click on the “Next part …” link and repeat this until you reach a page where the header does not offer a “Next part …” link; that’s the last and current log page.
- Now open Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list, click on [edit], and find the transclusion of the nomination you are closing. It will be of the form:
or:. - Copy that line to the bottom of the current log page and save that page. Then remove the same line from the candidate list and save that page.
Closing a delisting nomination
- On Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list click on the title/link of the candidate image, then [edit].
Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line):
(for example see Commons:Featured picture candidates/removal/File:Ensifera ensifera (22271195865).jpg) - Edit the title of the delisting nomination and add
delistedornot delistedafter the image title; for example:=== :File:XXXXX.jpg ===
becomes=== :File:XXXXX.jpg, delisted === - Add candidate archive categories to the nomination; this works the same way as described above for featured picture nominations. The only difference is that the category for type and status must be of the form Category:2026 successful candidates for delisting from featured picture status, or Category:2026 successful candidates for delisting and replacing featured pictures if this is a delist-and-replace nomination. Substitute “unsuccessful”, “FPXed”, “FPDed” or “withdrawn” for “successful”, depending on the final result of the nomination.
- Move the transclusion of the nomination to the current log page; please see above for an explanation how to find the current log page and how to move the nomination to it.
- If the outcome was not delisted, stop here. If it is delisted:
- Remove the picture from Commons:Featured pictures, list and any subpages.
- Edit the picture's description as follows:
- In the Assessments template on the image description page, change
featured=1tofeatured=2(do not remove the Assessments template; do not change anything related to its status in other featured picture processes). If the image description page uses the old Featured picture template, replace it with. - Remove the image from all categories beginning with "Featured [pictures]" (example: Featured night photography, Featured pictures from Wiki Loves Monuments 2016, Featured pictures of Paris); but not from categories about featured pictures on specific Wikipedia editions, like Category:Featured pictures on Wikipedia, English.
- Remove the "Commons quality assessment" claim (P6731) "Wikimedia Commons featured picture" (Q63348049) from the picture's Structured data.
- In the Assessments template on the image description page, change
- Add a delisting-comment to the original entry in the chronological archive of featured pictures in bold-face, e. g. delisted 2007-07-19 (1–6) with (1–6) meaning 1 keep and 6 delist votes (change as appropriate). The picture must not be removed from the chronological archives.
- If this is a Delist and Replace, the delisting and promotion must both be done manually. To do the promotion, follow the steps in the section above. Note that the assessment tag on the file page and the promotion tag on the nominator's talk page won't pick up the /replace subpage that these nominations use.
Archiving a withdrawn nomination
If a nomination has been withdrawn by the nominator by using Withdraw or is cancelled with FPX or FPD, wait 24 hours after the nomination was last edited. If there has been no objection to the cancellation within this time, the nomination can simply be archived. Just add candidate archive categories to the nomination itself, then move the transclusion of the nomination to the current log page; please see above for an explanation how to find the current log page and how to move the nomination to it.
