<\/span><\/p>\nVia GIPHY<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Just like texting in English, Spanish texting has some \u201crules.\u201d<\/p>\n You can\u2019t (or, at least, you probably wouldn\u2019t) text \u201cOhMG\u201d instead of \u201cOMG\u201d (Oh my God) or \u201c2BA\u201d for \u201cTBA\u201d (to be announced) even though they make perfect sense. This is because certain abbreviations or acronyms have already been cemented and patterns have already been established.<\/p>\n So, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, why don\u2019t we take a moment to chat about what texting in Spanish actually looks like.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Like with English, texting in Spanish can cause some letters to disappear. This happens most commonly with: \u201ce-\u201d and \u201ces-\u201d at the beginning of words and \u201cd\u201d between vowels.<\/p>\n Examples:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Apparently, some letters aren\u2019t as cool as others and aren\u2019t worthy of being included in the texting universe. They often get replaced. This happens come commonly with hard \u201cc\u201d, hard \u201cq\u201d, and \u201cch.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cC\u201d and \u201cq\u201d become \u201ck\u201d. Some examples:<\/p>\n \u201cCh\u201d becomes \u201cx\u201d<\/p>\n This is an example of the disappearing \u201ces\u201d and the replacement of \u201cch\u201d with \u201cx\u201d. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n We do this in English a lot. For example, we might say \u201cu\u201d instead of writing out \u201cyou\u201d or \u201cr\u201d in place or \u201care.\u201d It makes texting quicker, saving the time it takes to type out all those unnecessary \u201cextra\u201d letters. In Spanish, we can do this with letters like \u201ct\u201d (\u201cte) or \u201ck\u201d (\u201cca\u201d).<\/p>\n Examples:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Like letters that say their names, some number and symbols can be used to \u201csay\u201d what they are as well. It\u2019s like in English when we say \u201c2\u201d instead of writing out \u201cto,\u201d \u201ctoo,\u201d or \u201ctwo.\u201d This happens all the time in Spanish.<\/p>\n Examples:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Probably the most common form of texting lingo is the use of initials. \u201cBRB\u201d for \u201cbe right back\u201d or \u201cLOL\u201d for \u201claugh out loud.\u201d There are plenty of popular initials in Spanish texting. <\/p>\n Some of the most common are:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n\n <\/p>\n Let\u2019s pretend that you\u2019re texting with your Spanish friends.
